Crossville, TN - Thomas H. (Tom) Dega was born in Milwaukee, WI to Herbert and Estelle Toczolowski Dega. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Mary (Moreau); their sons, Jon of Loxahatche, FL and Mark of Elkridge, MD; and their four grandchildren, Victoria (Scout) Vitus-Dega, Tressa Vitus-Dega, Savanna (Vitus-Dega) Cardinal; and Callie Vitus-Dega.

Tom served in the United States Army for six years and was employed by the Internal Revenue Service for thirty-five years. He began his career as a tax technician and then transferred into data processing/information technology as a computer programmer. He advanced in the field becoming a systems analyst, project manager, systems manager and an operations manager. He was selected for the service's executive development program where he held multiple executive positions. He retired as an assistant commissioner of the IRS.

A devoted family man and dedicated community member, Tom was a Boy Scout Cub Master and a little league coach. After moving to Fairfield Glade, he joined the Knights of Columbus and held various leadership positions including serving as financial secretary for K of C Council's 8152, in Crossville and 16088, in Fairfield Glade for 15.5 years. Tom was instrumental in the founding of Council 16088 and was selected as the State of Tennessee Knight of the Year for the 2016-2017 Fraternal Year. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and served his parish as a lector, eucharistic minister, usher and money counter. Tom was an AARP Tax Aide volunteer for ten years and also served as president of the resident council at the Good Samaritan Senior Living facility in Fairfield Glade.

Tom began golfing after moving to Fairfield Glade. He played in the Friars, Men's Nine Hole and Side by Each Golf Leagues.

Memorial Mass will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Thursday, Sept. 18, 2025, at 10 a.m.
