Marilyn Grace Mercer Obituary

Crossville, TN - Marilyn passed away peacefully at home on Nov. 30, 2025 surrounded by the love of her family. Marilyn was born on May 3, 1938 in Appleton, WI. She married the love of her life, James (Jim) Mercer and together they called many places home while they built a beautiful family. They retired to Fairfield Glade, where they happily resided for the last 30 years. Marilyn liked to stay active and for many years could be found on the golf course. In later years she preferred peaceful walks, swimming in the lake, and working in the yard. She enjoyed playing cards and games of all kinds, watching interior design and renovation shows, reading, boat rides, listening to and playing piano music, and most of all she enjoyed creating memories for her family, who she loved deeply. Marilyn had a passion for giving back to the community, and spent time volunteering, particularly at Good Samaritan.

Marilyn will be remembered for her kind and thoughtful heart, her witty sense of humor that kept you on your toes, her beauty and grace, and her ability to pour love into all that knew her. Marilyn was an active member at Christ Lutheran Church and sang in the choir for many years. Marilyn is preceded by her parents, Herb and Sada Voecks; her brother, Stanley Voecks; her beloved son, Jim Mercer; and her loving and devoted husband of 67 years, James Mercer. Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Carrie Jones and son-in-law Bill Jones; four granddaughters, Danielle, Erin, Stephanie, and Paige; and five great-grandchildren, Lexi, Austin, Hannah, Abby, and Ezra.

A private family ceremony will be held at Christ Lutheran Church.
