Crossville, TN - Donald William Johnson, 87, of Crossville, passed away on July 13, 2026, at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville.

Born in Mansfield, OH, on June 17, 1939, Don was the son of the late Harold and Agnes (Nibarger) Johnson. He earned a master's degree in chemical engineering from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, which launched a successful 33-year career as a project manager for DuPont at the Old Hickory, TN plant.

Upon retirement, Don and his wife moved to Fairfield Glade, where he fully immersed himself in his passion for golf. He spent more than 20 years playing with his cherished Tuesday morning golf group and turned his love for the sport into a side business, BTM Clubs, where he built and repaired custom golf clubs.

His dedication to the craft was further reflected through his active involvement with the International Clubmakers Guild, which honored his expertise and contributions by inducting him into the Guild's Hall of Fame in 2014.

Woodworking was his second favorite hobby. He took great joy in crafting whimsical banks and other cherished items for his grandchildren, family, and friends. Don was an engineer at heart, so he always found a way to stay busy finding creative solutions to everyday problems.

He has blessed his family and friends in so many ways. He will be deeply missed and remembered for his strong faith, generous heart, quick smile, easygoing nature, and deep love of family.

Don was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Becky Ann (Reed) Johnson, and his parents. He is survived by his son, Michael (Tootie) Johnson; his daughters, Karen (Craig) Lampert and Kathy (Rod) Richards; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
