She was born Oct. 21, 1932, in Monroe, WI, the daughter of Florence and Willis Babler. She graduated from Monticello High School and completed an accounting program a business college in Madison.
She married Norton D. Strommen Aug. 9, 1952, in Monticello, WI. She joined her husband on Kodiak, AK, where he was assigned to the Navy's Fleet Weather Center and worked at the Naval supply facility. Rosemary enjoyed catching salmon, hiking and searching beaches for unique driftwood. King crab parties were a favorite when not playing cards or sewing. She moved to Alameda, CA, in 1954, at the Navy's weather center, enjoying exploring the redwoods, Napa Valley, coastal and mountain vistas of California.
She returned to Wisconsin in 1955, worked at the University of Wisconsin while Norton completed his meteorology program. Rosemary enjoyed cooking, was active in Faculty Wives planning dinners featuring unique foods from many regions of the world while at Michigan State University and the University of Missouri at Columbia.
She moved to Springfield, VA, in 1979, doing volunteer work for the church and with the ladies organization. When not playing bridge or entertaining visitors, she become an expert tour guide for the Washington, DC region.
Rosemary moved to Fairfield Glade in 1995. She continued volunteer work at the church, ladies clubs and the Cumberland County Playhouse when not traveling or entertaining visitors. Life was good in the hills of Tennessee.
Rosemary is predeceased by her parents.
A memorial service is April 6 beginning at 11 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, Fairfield Glade. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Cumberland County Playhouse or the memorial fund at Christ Lutheran Church
