Evelyn Spahr went home to be with God on April 23, 2016, after a brief illness. She was cared for by the Good Samaritan Society and, in the end, the Hospice House of Cumberland County.
Evelyn was a 10-year resident of Fairfield Glade, after moving here from Long Island, NY, in 2007. She was the proud spouse of Charles E. Spahr who served the county of Nassau as a police officer for 45 years and ended his career as First Deputy Commissioner of the Nassau County Police Department. He predeceased her by 23 years and she spent her time as a loving mother of Laurence (Christine) and Stephen; grandmother to four grandsons, Daniel, Charles, Robert and Christopher Spahr; and great grandmother of Julianna and Antonia Spahr.
Evelyn will be remembered in a memorial service at the Good Samaritan Chapel on Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at 9:30 in the morning. Her funeral will follow in September in Massapequa, NY, where she'll be reunited with her beloved Charlie at the Grace Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her name to Cumberland County Hospice House or The Good Samaritan Society of Fairfield Glade would be appreciated.
