Edgar "Ed"'s Story
Edgar "Ed" D. Tucker, 88, of Fairfield Glade, TN, passed away early in the morning May 28, 2017. Born Aug. 17, 1928, Ed was the son of Johnathan and Emma Tucker from Smithfield, OH. He moved with his mother and sister, Mildred, in 1944 to Columbus, OH, where he met and married the love of his life, Wanda L. Little.
Ed proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, serving his county in both World War II and the Korean War. After the war, he returned to Columbus to work for Columbus Southern Ohio Electric Company (AEP) until his retirement in 1990. Ed and Wanda raised their family of six children in Columbus and Galena, OH. Ed was active with sports and coaching when his boys were younger. The family owned Friar Tucks Pizza in Columbus, OH. The family were members of Maize Manor Methodist Church in Columbus, OH, and Galena Methodist Church in Galena, OH. Ed and Wanda are current members of Fairfield Glade Community Church.
Ed and Wanda retired to Fairfield Glade, TN, in 1992 to enjoy warmer weather, golf and time together. Ed and Wanda loved to travel in their RV. Over the years they traveled to and visited all 50 states. Ed enjoyed many hobbies including woodworking, crossword puzzles, playing cards, fishing, golf and bowling. He was a member of the VFW, Sunbury, OH, and the Elks, Crossville, TN.
He is survived by loving wife, Wanda of Fairfield Glade, TN; son, Dean and his wife Crystal of San Mateo, CA; son, Gary and his wife Georgia of Sunbury, OH; daughter, Debbie Fischer and her husband Bob of Savannah, GA; son, Lee Tucker of Gahanna, OH; son Glenn and his wife Lynn of Worthington, OH; son Keith and his wife Diane of Springfield, VA; grandchildren, Adam Tucker and his wife Liz, Joseph Tucker, Meggan Hartley, Kindell Kurena and her husband Adam, Cassandra Green and her husband Jason, Ashley Trout and her husband Kevin, Nichole Butler and her husband James, Cameron Tucker, Cole Tucker, Jennifer Boyea and her husband Luke, Sarah Tucker and Mary Tucker; and great grandchildren, Jack, Finnley, Anna, Fischer, Thea, Hannah, Griffin, Evelyn, Alan and Logan Joseph.
He was a wonderful father, brother-in-law, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather and devoted husband. His influence will be felt for years to come and his presence will be dearly missed.
A memorial service will be held, June 18, 2017, at 1:30 p.m. at Fairfield Glade Community Church. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Fairfield Glade Community Church.
