Donald L. Savercool, 88, passed away peacefully on Aug. 14, 2017, at his home in Fairfield Glade, TN. He was born on March 10, 1929, in Binghamton, NY.
He served with the US Army Air Force in World War II and with the US Navy during the Korean War. He retired from IBM Corporation in Endicott, NY, after 37 years. Don was a former Cub Scout leader, Boy Scout leader and a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus member.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley, of 61 years; sons Timothy (Linda) of Independence, OH, and Daniel (Donna) of St. Petersburg, FL; five grandchildren: Sierra, Erik, Riley and Benjamin of Mattituck, NY, and Brittany of St. Petersburg, FL; and four step-grandchildren: Megan, Michelle, Danny and Leah. He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Alma Savercool; brother, David; and sister, Ann Louise.
A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017, at 10 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Burial will be in New York at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Hospice of Cumberland County, 30 E. Adams St., Crossville, TN, 38555 may be made in his memory.
