Bill Desmond, 77, of Griffin, GA, died Nov. 1, 2017, of complications of pancreatitis at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta.
Bill was born and raised in Dearborn, MI. During his four years in the U.S. Air Force, he was stationed in Iceland and Lahore, Pakistan, where he attended a reception and met Jackie Kennedy. He worked for over 40 years in banking and finance and proudly ended his career as a township treasurer of Green Oak, MI.
He and his wife, Linda, retired to Fairfield Glade in 2005 and enjoyed living in the Glade for 12 years. During his time in Fairfield Glade, Bill was secretary of the Bass Fishing Club and a member of the now dissolved Crossville Kiwanis Club. Bill and his wife moved six months ago to Griffin, GA, to be closer to their children.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda; their children, Mark and partner Chris and Susan and partner Deji; three grandchildren, Grant and Trevor Lovett and Isabel Alaran; his sister, Pat Audet and Ed Audet who live in Michigan.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jill Lovett.
A memorial service is being held Saturday, Dec. 2, at 2 p.m. at Crossville United Methodist Church, 100 Braun Street, Crossville.
